Our client, a well regarded private legal practice based in the heart of Newcastle Upon Tyne, are actively seeking to recruit an experienced Housing Disrepair fee earner into their busy team.
THIS IS A PREDOMINANTLY REMOTE ROLE - only 2 days per month office based and with reasonable travel costs/expenses paid by the firm
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day handling of a caseload of pre and post litigated Housing Disrepair claims.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
1. Reviewing files and reporting regularly to clients, referrers, team leaders or others
2. Liaising with experts
3. Assessing the merits of cases and gathering evidence, both documentary and witness, to rebut denials and pursue meritorious cases to settlement by negotiation
4. Liaising and negotiating with insurers, solicitors, and other agencies
5. Completing Schedules of Special Damages
6. Drafting court proceedings and pursuing cases to trial, where necessary
7. Attending team meetings
8. Dealing promptly with telephone enquiries from clients, referrers and others
9. Assisting other team members as necessary
10. To carry out such other duties as might reasonably be requested by the Directors
It is imperative that you are experienced in handling Housing Disrepair claims at all stages in order to be considered for this role, as you will be required to hit the ground running with an existing caseload under minimal supervision.
Some previous experience in working from Proclaim would be beneficial, although not essential.
