Position Summary

The Renewable Energy Surveyor is responsible for meeting with potential customers and conducting assessments of their property to determine suitability for renewable energy installations, potentially producing simple system designs, and providing expert technical support throughout the sales process.

This position holds key responsibility for ensuring the technical accuracy and feasibility of proposed installations, while working collaboratively with sales teams to convert customer enquiries into successful projects. The role includes maintaining up-to-date knowledge of evolving technologies and regulations to ensure all designs meet the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Assessment & Design

Conduct thorough on-site surveys of domestic and small commercial properties to assess suitability for solar PV, heat pumps, battery storage and MVHR systems. Use our software to produce technical reports including system specifications, energy calculations, and compliance documentation. Design optimal renewable energy solutions considering property constraints, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. Ensure all proposed systems comply with MCS standards, building regulations, and relevant industry guidelines.

Customer & Sales Support

Partner with sales colleagues to provide technical expertise during customer consultations and presentations. Translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable recommendations for customers. Identify and communicate additional opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and complementary technologies. Support the resolution of technical queries throughout the customer journey from initial enquiry to post-installation.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Maintain current knowledge of renewable energy technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes. Contribute to the development and refinement of survey processes, tools, and documentation standards. Collaborate with installation teams to ensure survey outputs enable efficient and effective project delivery. Participate in post-project reviews to identify improvements in survey accuracy and design optimisation.

Essential Requirements

Demonstrable experience in renewable energy, electrical, or building services sectors. Understanding of domestic electrical systems, building physics, and energy efficiency principles. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the region. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
