As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital\xe2\x80\x99s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.

This role is responsible for analysing road space booking data to generate reporting and insights on performance and areas requiring attention and improvement. The role will produce regular daily, weekly and monthly performance data for use in reports to CPS Senior Leadership as well as for use within the Road Space team.

The role will be central to understanding performance to drive future improvements, using data to target where improvement effort is required, and using data to assess the benefits delivered by improvements already put in place. The postholder should also look for opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency through the road space booking process.

The role is responsible for producing and submitting contractual KPI data relating to road space booking and other reports required to be submitted to HE (including Schedule of Non Routine Lane Closures and Daily Total Closure Report).

Accountabilities:

  • Production of standard internal reporting on road space booking performance (including daily, weekly and monthly reports), looking for opportunities to automate where necessary.
  • Production of contractual KPI data and reports relating to road space bookings, including the Schedule of Non-Routine Lane Closures and the Daily Total Closure report, using automation to reduce the time taken to produce where necessary.
  • Using data from CPS and NH corporate systems to produce insights on performance gaps, making recommendations on where improvements are required to meet the strategic target of 90% road space booking accuracy, 7 days in advance, by 2025.
  • Ensure that quality is controlled in all reporting to ensure that there is confidence and credibility in all reports produced, including development of checking and validation procedures.
  • Assess the impact of process improvements on road space booking performance to demonstrate the benefits delivered.
  • Using NH corporate systems and any other industry data, look for opportunities to adopt good practice from outside Area 5 to improve road space booking performance.
  • Identify and implement ways in which road space data and reporting can be continuously improved to improve efficiency of the processes or to improve the quality of data and insights.
  • Provide reports using NH system for the processes and system lead so they can quality assure bookings.
  • Assist and provide up to data figures and KPI targets to the processes and system lead so they can update contractual documents.
  • Work with Optimatic & Alchera Teams (as well as any other planning/programme optimisation tool users) to inform and improve our innovative planning systems via smart use of data, analytics and trends.
Experience Required:
  • Education to A-level grade C or above in a technical subject, or with equivalent experience in similar roles.
  • Experience in handling large volumes of data and reporting in concise formats suitable for a non-technical audience.
  • Experience in using data analysis tools including Excel and PowerBI.
  • Understanding of the road space booking process desirable.
  • Experience of working in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Highly organised and able to handle many ongoing priorities without impact on outputs.
