What sort of work?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Reporting Systems Accountant to join our Finance team in either our Bristol or Exeter office.


In this role you will support the Financial Controller, forming part of a team responsible for maintaining the accounting system and records of the firm. Your role will be pivotal to maintaining the integrity of the information held, ensuring that financial reports are delivered in a timely manner and promoting best practice where possible. You will be part of a team that provides monthly financial accounts to the board and reports at a firm, department and team level.


This will include :


Managing and maintaining financial reporting platforms, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data, security and efficiency Developing and enhancing financial reports on our reporting platform to meet business needs (Spotlight or equivalent) Identifying and resolving issues within our financial reporting system, troubleshooting and liaising with IT and external providers as required Developing training materials and supporting users of financial reporting systems Ensuring financial report systems comply with regulations and firms policies Closely working with Finance, IT and other stakeholders to ensure our reporting systems are effective Maintaining clear and accurate documentation of financial reporting systems, processes and procedures.

Your ability to communicate will be key to the success of the role, not only within the 15-person strong Finance Department but with key management personnel, partners and directors. Strong technical and system skills are expected along with a hands-on approach and work ethic. This will be a challenging and developing role in what is a dynamic and fast-growing business. The role is based in our Bristol or Exeter office and the ideal candidate will have:


Report writing expertise - knowledge and experience in report writing (SQL & basic HTML/Javascript experience required, knowledge of Cognos preferred. Power BI, Excel Pivot tables and MDX Query skills would be beneficial) Professional accounting qualification is preferable A strong understanding of accounting principles and practices The ability to identify and resolve issues Be a confident communicator with a positive work ethic, capable of building credible relationships with stakeholders Show meticulous attention to detail
