The University of Chester is seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to support delivery of the ESRC-funded project A Time for Change: Integrating Social Justice-Oriented Citizenship Education into Key Stage 3 History, led by Dr Daryn Egan-Simon.
The project explores how history teaching can foster social justice-oriented citizenship education in secondary schools. Working alongside the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will contribute to qualitative data collection and analysis, support the development of teaching resources and help coordinate engagement with four participating secondary schools across Cheshire.
Applicants should hold a good honours degree in Education, Social Sciences or a related discipline, and a Masters-level qualification (MA, MEd, MSc or equivalent). Experience of qualitative data collection and analysis--particularly Thematic Analysis--is essential, along with strong organisational and communication skills.
Desirable experience includes working in schools or with young people, contributing to curriculum or resource design, and familiarity with social justice, citizenship or history education.
The role offers flexible working across University, home and school sites. The successful candidate will be required to travel to research locations within Cheshire and complete an enhanced DBS check (funded by the project).
