The Oxford Internet Institute - founded in 2001 - is a multidisciplinary research and teaching department of the University of Oxford, dedicated to the social science of the Internet.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join Dr Fabian Braesemann's team at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. This is a full-time, fixed-term position to 30 September 2025, starting in January. You will be based at the Schwarzman Centre, Oxford but there may be the opportunity for occasional remote working within the UK.

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Research Assistant with a background in computer science, business analytics, information systems, business computing or related to join our Science of Startups research project, which explores the role of personality traits in entrepreneurship and which studies startup ecosystems more broadly.

Responsibilities include:

Developing tools and pipelines for data collection, processing, and quality assurance.

Assisting in and supporting the development of an agent-based model of startup ecosystems.

Applying programming and data analytics skills to manage and analyse large, complex datasets.

Contributing to methodological innovation at the intersection of computer science, data science, and social science.

Assisting in the preparation of outputs for academic, business, and public audiences.




You will Hold, or be close to completing, a first degree in computer science, business informatics, data science, or a related subject, have excellent communication skills, and experience in developing and applying computational methods.
