Job Description

The Opportunity:



The postholders will contribute to UK research council and/or industry funded projects that are broadly aimed at the design and evaluation of systems/methods for next-generation wireless access networks and intelligent edge infrastructure. You will be expected to lead the research on certain aspects of these projects while contributing to other aspects, including assisting with research student supervision, preparing presentations and reports for deliverables and developing related/follow-on projects. Candidates must have a degree in Computer Science or related field. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with strong initiative and commitment to excellence, and an ability to conduct world-class research in a team setting.



These posts are fixed-term (for 12 months) and full-time (35 hours per week)

, however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.



The salary for this role is at Grade UE06: 34,132 - 39,355 per annum, pro-rata if part-time.



Your skills and attributes for success:



A degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience of research in Computer Science. Preferably, substantial academic research or industry work experience in one or more of the following areas: + Wireless networking systems;
+ 5G and beyond mobile networks, including Open RAN;
+ Machine learning for networks and systems;
+ Systems for machine learning;
+ Edge computing and applications;
+ Networked systems design and experimental evaluation;
+ Network measurement;
+ Network security.
Proven expertise in the techniques needed to undertake the research in question. Demonstrated quality of research performance. Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing. Possess high level of initiative, be detail oriented and ability to effectively work in a team setting.
