Currently, our School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment is leading The Hi-SCOT Project ("Heritage meets Innovation: Smart PV for Cities Overcoming Tomorrow's Climate") and recruiting a
Research Assistant
to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of solar energy innovation, architectural heritage, and sustainable urban design.
The Role:
As a Research Assistant on the "Hi-SCOT" project, you will be in an excellent position to use your knowledge of Solar Energy and Renewable Energy Systems to help conduct research focusing on the aesthetic and functional integration of Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) systems in Scotland's historic and listed buildings.
Your proven track record of writing and publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals will also serve you well as you contribute to the production of research reports and publications and present information on progress and outcomes to all relevant stakeholders.
You'll need an excellent working knowledge of graphic and visualisation software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Rhino for design and presentation of research concepts and be skilled at developing visualisation materials, conducting perception studies, contributing to technical and policy guidelines that could in turn inform future heritage retrofits.

What we will need from you:
MSc in Solar Energy, Renewable Energy Systems, or a closely related discipline. (with demonstrated expertise in photovoltaic technologies, building-integrated energy systems, or energy systems)
Proven track record of writing and publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals
Research experience with Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) systems, with a focus on aesthetic design and architectural integration
Proficiency with graphic and visualisation software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Rhino for design and presentation of research concepts
