About the role

As a Research Assistant in Psychology you will support the Sussex Vision Lab team with conducting ongoing research studies. Our methods include electroencephalography (EEG) and psychophysics, where we record participant responses to coloured stimuli. The Research Assistant will be responsible for recruiting participants and running experimental sessions (under supervision by the PI and/or other members of the research team), including fitting electrode caps and recording EEG data. They will be responsible for basic processing of psychophysics and EEG data including artifact rejection, and data management. Interested candidates will have the opportunity to assist with further stages of data analysis.

The Research Assistant will be part of the COLOURCODE team, which is a 5-year ERC-funded project to better understand the neural mechanisms of colour perception. The Sussex Vision Lab is affiliated with the Sussex Colour Group, which consists of a community of active vision science and colour science researchers working on diverse topics. The Research Assistant will be part of the Sussex vision science community and wider research networks within the university (e.g., the Sussex Centre for Sensory Neuroscience and Computation and the Sussex Centre for Excellence in Consciousness Science.

About you

You will have had experience running or assisting to run EEG sessions and be familiar with methods to ensure good EEG data quality (including EEG artifact rejection).
