The UCL Dementia Research Centre, based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, is a hub for clinical research into various forms of dementia. Our work focuses on identifying and understanding the disease processes that cause dementia, the factors that influence these disease processes, and how best to support people with dementia and their families. In addition to our research, we also provide a cognitive disorders clinic within the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join a collaborative research programme funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), under the supervision of Dr Philip Weston. The project focuses on Alzheimer's disease, with the goal of developing innovative, cost-effective methods to detect early changes in brain structure and cognition using digital and AI-based technologies.
The post is available from 01 January 2026 and is funded for one year in the first instance.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 60-80% of time on site.

About you

You will hold an Honours degree (minimum 2:1) in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related discipline, with a strong interest in dementia research. You'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and be proactive, resourceful, with strong problem solving abilities. Advanced IT proficiency and a commitment to supporting high-quality research are essential.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
