About us

------------

The Department of Clinical and Movement Neurosciences is a world-leading group that brings together expertise across the clinical and basic science spectrum of the physiology and pathology of human movement and movement disorders.

The Department is in a unique position of pursuing research in basic neuroscience that is of direct translational benefit to neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, dystonia, stroke, motor neurone disease, peripheral nerve disorders and spinal cord injury. Our Research Groups use a powerful combination of modern non-invasive research technology, theoretical and computational approaches, and a variety of cellular, animal and human models to explore how the brain controls normal movement, and how disease leads to disordered control of movement.

About the role

------------------

We are now recruiting a highly motivated Research Assistant with a good knowledge of project managing large, multi-Centre, research-funded projects and ideally with experience in Parkinsonism or Parkinson's Plus conditions to join the Department under the supervision of Professor Huw Morris.

The project will involve coordinating the collaboration across multiple sites and overseeing the collation and analysis of clinical and genetic data from study participants with Parkinsonism and Parkinson's Plus conditions, as part of a collaborative team based at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.

You will be primarily responsible for liaising with global study sites; introducing them to the study, liaising with the ASAP-GP2 compliance team, ensuring smooth transfer of samples and data, and harmonising clinical data.

The post is available immediately and is funded by grants awarded to Professor Huw Morris until 31 December 2026 in the first instance.

If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online, or have any queries regarding the application process, please contact the Institute of Neurology HR Team (ion.hradmin@ucl.ac.uk).

Informal enquiries regarding the role can be addressed to Professor Huw Morris (h.morris@ucl.ac.uk).

A full job description and person specification for this role can be accessed below. To apply, please upload a current CV, complete the online application form, and use the supporting statement section or upload a cover letter to outline how you meet the essential and desirable criteria for the role. Please do not upload any additional attachments as these will not be considered by the selection panel.

About you

-------------

You will have an Honours degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and experience of working within an experimental research environment. You will be self-directed with excellent organisation and time management skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team of researchers, while maintaining independent thinking and initiative.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
