The Centre for Outcomes Research and Effectiveness (CORE) in CEHP is seeking a Research Assistant to support a three-year National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded project which aims to improve access to psychological treatment services for people of minority ethnic backgrounds with co-occurring long-term physical health conditions (LTCs). The successful candidate will join the CORE Data Lab, which was established to harness novel techniques in data science and clinical research to better understand mental health issues and improve treatment outcomes.
About the role
------------------
The postholder will support the management of large healthcare databases including national data from the NHS Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression (TTad) programme and Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) records. There will be opportunities to conduct analysis on this dataset in line with project aims, including analyses employing causal inference methods. In addition, the successful candidate will support a realist review on methods to improve access to and outcomes from healthcare services, conducted in collaboration with the University of Birmingham. The successful candidate will also support the delivery of local service evaluation and the implementation and dissemination of findings in the later stages of the project. There will be opportunities to lead small research projects with support from Lab members, as well as working with patients and public involvement members and clinician groups.
The post is funded to 2028 and the salary offered is 39,148 per annum.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you
-------------
The successful candidate will have a MSc related to Psychology, Mental Health, Data Science or Healthcare Informatics. They will have also experience of working with large NHS Datasets, specifically those collected by NHS mental health services and those collected in hospitals, and conducting analysis on these datasets with appropriate statistical software. A solid understanding of information governance, privacy and data security issues is required.
