Salary from 36,008 to 40,991 pa inclusive with potential to progress to 43,854 pa inclusive of London allowance pro rata






This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months with extension possible subject to Funding.

We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant ("pre-doc") to work closely with Dr. Eugenie Dugoua on several ongoing research projects at the intersection of environmental economics and innovation. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting data-driven, policy-relevant research examining the intersection of environmental challenges and technological change. This role is ideal for candidates planning to apply to top PhD programmes and looking for hands-on research experience on high-impact questions in environmental economics and innovation.





Key Responsibilities for the role include:


Data collection, cleaning, and merging from large-scale microdata sources (e.g., patents, dissertations, bibliometrics). Conduct data analysis using econometric and statistical tools (STATA, R, or Python). Assist in literature reviews and summarising academic research. Contribute to writing research papers and policy reports. Participate in meetings with collaborators and present research findings when appropriate. Identify and source new datasets relevant to ongoing projects. Support administrative and organisational aspects of the research projects, as needed.




Candidates should have:


Undergraduate or Master's degree in Economics or another quantitative discipline (completed by start date). Advanced programming skills in Python and either R or STATA. Willingness and ability to learn unfamiliar tools as needed (e.g. GitHub, APIs, new libraries). Familiarity with econometric techniques, especially panel data methods. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple research tasks.

The expected start date is flexible but ideally from Autumn 2025. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of extension up to another 1 year subject to funding.
