The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is at the heart of UCL's Grand Challenge of Global Health. The Institute's vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world-class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world's major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research, and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice.
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with experience in quantitative, qualitative and/or mixed methods public health research and project management, and a strong interest in working across disciplines and in partnership with communities.
The successful candidate will join RECENTRE (undeRstanding EpidemiCs in prEgnaNt and lacTating people and infants: an inteRdisciplinary nEtwork), an ambitious 18-monthproject funded by the Wellcome Trust to establish an interdisciplinary research network for (re)emerging infections in pregnancy, lactation and infancy.RECENTRE will bring together people from across a wide range of sectors and disciplines (including people from affected communities) to consider the role of interdisciplinarity in pandemic preparedness research in these overlooked populations, to establish processes and networks for interdisciplinary working and to identify key research priorities. We will do this by mapping and synthesising existing interdisciplinary work and hosting events to foster collaboration.
RECENTRE is one of several new projects in interdisciplinary approaches to (re)emerging infections in the department. The postholder will join and benefit from a growing group of clinicians, co-producers, epidemiologists, modellers and social scientists working in this area at a national and international level.
