Job Description

Applications are sought for a Research Assistant to work with Dr Jo Hobbs conducting and supporting research into the clinical prevalence, significance and molecular mechanisms of antimicrobial tolerance. The primary duties will be to use cloning, bacterial genetics, antibiotic susceptibility assays and an in vivo infection model to investigate the molecular mechanisms and clinical consequences of antimicrobial tolerance in pathogenic bacteria and fungi.


The successful applicant will have a BSc (Hons) in Biology or a related subject with hands-on experience in culture of E. coli, S. aureus and E. faecalis, allelic exchange, MIC determinations, time-kills and Galleria mellonella infection models.


The post is available for 8 months starting 6th October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
