The project is funded by CARMA - Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub Pump Priming Grant and aims to characterise edible mycelia-based microcarriers and investigate their performance in spinner flasks, facilitating scalability of cultivated meat from laboratory to production volumes. This will be done by studying the flow patterns during mixing of the mycelia inside stirred vessels, using high speed imaging and particle image velocimetry (PIV) experimental set up already in place in our labs.
As the successful applicant you should hold a MSc/MEng degree and have experience in experimental fluid mechanics. Applications are also welcomed from candidates currently pursuing or nearing the completion of a relevant PhD.
