We are seeking a motivated and experienced biological researcher to work on an exciting Wellcome Trust funded project to investigate how changes in glucagon receptor signalling affect fuel metabolism.
With rates of obesity, steatotic liver disease and type 2 diabetes at an all-time high, we aim to use discovery science to understand the role of dysregulated glucagon signalling in the pathogenesis of these conditions.
What you would be doing
---------------------------
You will develop protocols for the investigation of glucagon signalling in immortalised cell lines, primary hepatocytes, liver organoids and mice.
You will manipulate disease-status using specialised diets and genetic manipulation (CRISPR; AAVs).
You will work within a wide-reaching multidisciplinary team of researchers to integrate in-silico modelling, high throughput pharmacological screening and structural characterisation data in developing your research plans.
What we are looking for
---------------------------
PhD in relevant biological science.
Hands-on experience with mouse models for research.
Practical experience in cell and tissue culture.
Enthusiasm for teaching and supervision
Project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organise own work with minimal supervision and work collaboratively.
What we can offer you
-------------------------
The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days' annual leave and generous pension schemes).
Access to a range of workplace benefits including generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
