About the role


------------------


oAre you ready to contribute to the decarbonisation of the metal and cement industries? We are looking for a Research Associate to join the Department of Chemical Engineering to support the Innovate UK-funded HalMan project. You will model innovative hydrogen-based processes for manganese alloy production.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


You will model reactors and process units using ASPEN, MATLAB or GPROMS, integrate the components into a full-process flowsheet, and validate your work against experimental data. You will also support safety assessments using techniques such as HAZID and HAZAN, and contribute to project deliverables, conference presentations, and publications.


What we are looking for


---------------------------


People with strong modelling skills in Chemical Engineering and an ability to think creatively to model processes where kinetic data may be sparse or just being developed. Proactive people who will get on within the context of a large EU consortium.


Strong experience in chemical process simulation (e.g. using ASPEN, MATLAB or GPROMS) Familiarity with process safety concepts and risk assessments Excellent communication and organisational skills A collaborative and flexible approach to multidisciplinary research
