Job Description


We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled software engineer with experience in Digital Twins and robotics to work on the development of a commercial software application that will support the safe deployment of complex robotic processes. Educated to PhD level in computer science or engineering, you will have experience in Unity, C#, and uxml. You will also have experience of practical robotics and the Robot Operating System.

You will join a team of entrepreneurial scientists and engineers developing a digital twinning platform for the design and development of robotic and other cyber-physical systems. The role will play a vital function in creating architectures and algorithms for robot safety based on underpinning research by the wider team, and you will engage with experts in safety engineering and regulation on a regular basis.

By the end of the post, you will have developed demonstrators and supporting materials to showcase your work and that of the team to stakeholders in industry and academia. This will include: - Creating an instance of selected basic safety primitives and concepts in code - Integration of these concepts into our existing software. - Creation of a demonstrator specification with end-user partners - Production of physical robotic demonstrators at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre - Development and testing of visual interfaces to communicate safety information with users - Creating demonstration videos and animations - Presenting research at meetings and conferences, nationally and internationally.
