Overall Purpose of the Job:

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated scientist to work on the STFC funded Nuclei at extremes of isospin using laser spectroscopy theme led by Prof Kieran Flanagan and Dr Paul Campbell. The research activity is based at ISOLDE-CERN, JYFL Jyvaskyla and Manchester. The successful candidate will assist in the testing and commissioning of laser, vacuum and ion trapping equipment. They will support experiments, analyse results and preparing papers for publication.

The successful candidate will possess (or submitted) a Ph.D. in a relevant field of laser spectroscopy and nuclear physics. The ability to work as part of an international team, both in the UK and abroad, is essential. Knowledge of experimental nuclear research using lasers spectroscopy with low-energy radioactive ion beams is essential.
