We have an exciting opportunity in the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department for a Research Associate in Powder Mixing and Flow for Next Generation Dry Processing. This is an ideal position for someone looking to utilise their skills within an expert group of researchers across different research institutions; and to make an impact in the area of design and development of new ways to process dry powdered lithium-ion battery electrode formulations with suitable properties for downstream dry battery electrode (DBE) process.

This Faraday Institution funded research project ( ) is well established, both in Sheffield and across our partner institutions, and we have received additional funding for a second phase of the project for the next two years.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable hands-on experience on how to formulate a multiphase powder mixture (containing active, binder and conductive additive and imagining new ways to form powder into thick films with controlled porosity, conductivity and adhesion without the use of a solvent, slurry or paste. The electrochemical performance of the electrode will match or exceed the existing state-of-the-art. You must have experience managing your time effectively when there are multiple ongoing project streams and ideally, you will demonstrate a track record of high-quality research.

Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) is ranked amongst the top 5 Chemical Engineering Departments in the UK and is a thriving department within the University\'s Faculty of Engineering.
