Within the Bristol Composites Institute at the University of Bristol there is an exciting opportunity to join our world leading team in the modelling of composite structures' manufacturing processes.
What will you be doing?
---------------------------
High quality numerical analysis is a crucial part of understanding and designing the manufacture of composite structures for production of high quality components. Here, the role holder will develop and deploy numerical tools for the prediction of composites forming processes, particularly focussing on novel material configurations such as short fibre pre-pregs. You will work in a team of researchers that includes experimentalists who generate data for material characterisation and model validation as well as Research Software Engineers for code development support. Research will include the creation of custom written codes and the use of commercial finite element software and user subroutines that will deliver novel solutions for virtual manufacturing methods. The appointment will be at Research Associate or Senior Research Associate, depending on level of experience, see further details document.
You should apply if
-----------------------
You will have a MEng in Engineering/Materials Science or closely related discipline and ideally a PhD in Engineering/Materials Science. You will also have good experience of finite element analysis techniques, programming (C++/FORTRAN and Python) and composites manufacturing and production processes. Appointment will be made for 12 months in the first instance.
