About the role


------------------


Applications are encouraged for a Research Associate post to work on a project funded by Innovate UK and the European Space Agency to employ systems thinking to investigate and develop models and algorithms for situational awareness.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


You will carry out research programmes to develop and test models for accurate and reliable situational awareness for autonomous mobility including simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM), object detection, navigation and guidance, and smart packing solutions. You will also be required submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.


What we are looking for


---------------------------


Hold a PhD in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) with experience in any aspect of research in situational awareness, or any relevant branch of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM), object detection, navigation and guidance, and smart packing solutions Knowledge of systems engineering including requirements, design, development/prototyping, testing and validation. Knowledge of situational awareness techniques. Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature

This role is a fixed-term, full time post for 18 months.
