About the role


------------------


An opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to work on a research project relating to the rehabilitation of steel structures, with an emphasis on the behaviour and design of structural connections. The project will involve advanced numerical simulations and the development of design rules.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


You will carry out research programmes to investigate the rehabilitation of steel structures, involving finite element modelling using the software ABAQUS, the development of analytical models and the establishment of statistically verified structural design rules, suitable for use in practice.


What we are looking for


---------------------------


Hold a PhD in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience, as well as an excellent honours degree and ideally MSc in Civil/Structural Engineering Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals Expert knowledge on the rehabilitation of structures and nonlinear FE modelling of connections Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature Willingness to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative
