About the role

Are you fascinated by how thought becomes motion, and wish to investigate this as a Research Associate? We are expanding our team at the Imperial-Meta Wearable Neural Interfaces Research Centre. The specific focus of this post is studying the physiology and neural control mechanisms involved in motor behaviours, targeting neurorehabilitation and consumer electronics applications.


What you would be doing


---------------------------


You will plan and perform novel experimental protocols with pioneering neural interfacing hardware, recording electromyography and other signals from participants with or without neurological conditions. Your findings will form the basis of improving our understanding of neuromechanics, as well as informing the design of future wearable neural interfaces. You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team already established as part of the centre, as well as our external industry partners at Meta's Reality labs through regular scientific exchange activities.


What we are looking for


---------------------------


Expertise in neurophysiological theory and the structure of the nervous system. A PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Human Medical Sciences (or equivalent). Experience in conducting experimental data collection including high-density electromyography. Familiarity with signal processing, particularly motor unit decomposition techniques. Skills involving artificial intelligence, machine learning are appreciated. Curiosity and proactiveness in collecting and analysing meaningful and impactful results with the end-user in mind.
