The R & D Technologist is reportable to the Managing Director and must work as part of a team to deliver new innovations for products and processes that ensure long-term success and profitability of the company.
THE COMPANY
In 2023, Tiflex Ltd acquired Acoustic Polymers Limited, a small and dynamic business specializing in developing polymeric compounds and processes. These novel and cutting-edge solutions are predominantly used in acoustic signature management in subsea environments. Customers are predominantly in the public domain with unique and interesting opportunities.
We are looking to expand this area of business and develop these opportunities. To that end we are looking to recruit two Research and Development Technologists to work at Acoustic Polymers, near Gloucester. Successful candidates shall be required to integrate into a small team, learning and developing new processes and materials, predominantly polyurethanes, poly-urea's, epoxies and silicones.

OBJECTIVES
After 3 Months
To learn and understand the processes involved in manufacturing a wide range of polymeric materials.
To be able to operate a wide range of processing equipment for developing polymeric compounds.
After 6 months
To have an active involvement in customer meetings
To take an active role in leading projects for compound, processing and product developments.
NATURE OF WORK UNDERTAKEN
The R & D Technologist is directly responsible to the Managing Director of Acoustic Polymers Limited. The successful candidate will initially work alongside other members of the team to develop a good knowledge of the materials, products and manufacturing processes. Over time they shall develop the skills and understanding to manage and lead projects to develop new products and processes.

Ability to work in a small factory environment
GCSE level 7 - Mathematics, English, Chemistry
Desirable
Science based degree
Experience with working with polymers, preferably polyurethanes, polyurea's, epoxy resins and silicones
