Role description:

As a Research Engineer Intern in BioAI, you will be part of a team of research engineers and computational biologists collaborating with BioNTech and InstaDeep colleagues to research and apply machine learning solutions to Protein Engineering. You will follow the latest developments in both Deep learning and Structural Biology, to identify and harness the approaches best suited to Protein Design, and leverage your technical, analytical, and research skills to develop and improve cutting edge solutions.

Responsibilities

Support the efforts of the BioAI team through the development of novel methods and applications under the guidance of our Research Engineers. Design and implement ML methods for proof of concept and benchmarking. Contribute to team research and publications. Report and present experimental results and research findings, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing. Write high-quality, maintainable, well-documented, and modular python code.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD programme in a related STEM discipline. Theoretical and practical knowledge in machine learning and deep learning, including experience with a deep learning framework such as Jax, PyTorch and/or Tensorflow. Familiarity working with data (numpy, pandas, matplotlib, ...). Excellent communication skills and collaborative spirit. Good programming skills in Python.

Application of deep learning to life sciences. Software engineering skills (git, quality coding standards, ...) Specific experience in any of the following domains : Large Language models, especially applied to biology Graph Neural Networks ML force fields and Molecular Dynamics
