he project is embedded within the Computational Cancer Collaboratorium and AI in Cancer Research group at UCL, a highly multi-disciplinary team of renowned experts in the field of cancer imaging. In addition, this project is unique as it ties together world class expertise from national/international research centers: University College London, University College London Hospital, UCL Partners Network as well as the National Physical Laboratory. The available infrastructure and expertise within this project will provide a strong basis for scientific discoveries at the peak of the current state-of-the-art. As a member of UCL, the successful candidate will also have access to a wealth of advanced courses for facilitating research and soft skills to advance as an independent researcher. The Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering is one of the largest Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering departments in the UK. The Department is proud to host internationally leading research groups covering a broad range of activities and spread over several sites. Our staff and students have a diverse range of interests and expertise, covering many areas of physics, engineering, medicine, physiology, computer science, and mathematics. Our focus is on excellent academic research in identifying new technologies and methods for diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases using medical imaging, physiological monitoring, and the development of implanted devices. About the role

Applications are invited for a Research Engineer position to join the programme of AI in Cancer Imaging in the Collins-Fekete's lab at UCL. The position is part of the UCL Therapeutic Acceleration Support which involves developing regulatory pathway to deploy AI solution in the NHS Clinical Environment. The post offers a unique opportunity to conduct developments and research at an international leading university and contribute to the developments of AI in digital pathology.



Prof. Collins-Fekete research group is internationally recognised as a an expert of AI Cancer Diagnostic. The appointed person will work in a multidisciplinary team led by Prof. Colins-Fekete and work in connection with the other teams of the consortium. The postholder will be required to carry out research in the area of regulatory pathway for AI algorithms, including designing and running experiments, recording, analysing and writing up the results (as part of a research team).



The role will also involve preparing and presenting findings of research activity to colleagues for review purposes, contributing to the drafting and submitting of papers to appropriate peer-reviewed journals, preparing progress reports on research for funding bodies as required and contributing to to the overall activities of the research team and department as required.




About you

The successful candidate will have a MSc degree in a relevant subject, such as computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or bioinformatics. They are likely to have a demonstrated impact in AI and imaging cancer, such as, image reconstruction, and/or deep learning. Candidates should have excellent programming skills. Applicants must have experience in presenting complex scientific concepts and content both in writing and verbally. They will show a strong commitment to their research topic and demonstrate excellent collaborative interpersonal skills with an ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting. The post-holder will be expected to have the ability to assist other members of the team, support application to external fundings, collaborate with external research groups, manage the database, and curate data, as well as contributing to the broader radiotherapy research activity at UCL and UCLH.
