Applications are invited from graduates with a good first degree and subsequent PhD in Psychology, Health Sciences or another related discipline. The appointee will help lead a research project funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) focussed on annual health checks in children and young people with a learning disability.
This ambitious research project aims to a) understand why uptake of annual health checks is low for children and young people aged 14-17 years with a learning disability, b) co-design an intervention to increase uptake, and c) explore the feasibility of the new intervention.
The research fellow will take a lead role participant recruitment, quantitative data collection, quantitative data management and analysis, finalising existing analysis of CPRD and linked data, co-ordinating and conducting the co-design process, intervention development and evaluation, report writing, and preparation of manuscripts and materials for publication and dissemination.
The post holder will liaise with all clinical and academic teams participating in the study.

About You
The post holder will have a PhD or equivalent in Psychology, Health Sciences or a closely related discipline together with an understanding of the needs of children with intellectual disability, their carers and related professionals.
The post holder will have practical experience of intervention development, implementation and evaluation alongside proficiency in statistical analyses of large quantitative datasets and proven ability to communicate effectively and disseminate research findings.

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at
Research Assistant
level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (34,610 per annum).
Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to
Research Fellow
, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (35,608 per annum).
