We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and engaged postdoctoral scientist to join our growing ovarian cancer research team. This is an opportunity to take the lead on the wet laboratory aspects of a new
CRUK-funded research programme investigating the mechanisms of chemoresistance acquisition in ovarian cancer, with a view to identifying therapeutic opportunities to prevent and reverse chemotherapy resistance.
Key aspects of the role include engineering of cellular models to investigate candidate mechanisms of chemoresistance acquisition, phenotypic characterisation of generated models, and implementation of drug screening and other approaches to identifying potential targeted opportunities to overcome therapy resistance.
The position is initially for 3 years, with the extension available for up to two additional years (5 years total).
This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time working patterns, or working in a condensed hours format. We encourage hybrid and flexible working within our team to promote student and staff welfare. The present role comprises a substantial proportion of work that necessitates on-site work (due to the need for laboratory facilities to undertake many of the job aspects), but other elements (e.g. analysis and documentation) are readily amenable to remote working.
The salary for this post is
41,064 to 48,882
per annum, in line with UoE Grade 07.
Your skills and attributes for success:
A PhD in cancer research or related biomedical discipline
Experience in a range of wet laboratory skills, including disease model engineering
A track record of delivering high quality research
A keen interest in cancer research that bridges the gap between fundamental science and clinical application
Highly organised and motivated; able to work both independently and as part of a research team
