Research Fellow In Pathogen Genomics

Job Description

Applications are sought for a committed Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Pathogen Genomics to work with Professor Deborah Williamson and Professor Matt Holden on a fully-funded project focusing on the application of bioinformatics and genomics to improve surveillance and detection of emerging infectious diseases. The post holder will play a key role in developing and applying bioinformatics approaches to analyse pathogen genomes. This includes genomic epidemiology, outbreak investigation, and the characterization of pathogen evolution and transmission.





The successful candidate will have a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, microbiology, virology, or a related field, with previous experience in pathogen genomics.






The post is available for 24 months starting early May 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of extension for a further two years.
