All of our centres are multidisciplinary, with staff drawn variously from economics, sociology, social policy, demography, psychology, anthropology and social statistics. We promote problem-solving interdisciplinary research on particular themes where we have outstanding scholarship and critical mass, e.g. gender, families, work, inequalities, migration, bio-social interactions.


About the role


------------------


In this role as a Research Fellow at the UCL Social Research Institute, you will contribute to a European Research Council-funded project on intergenerational economic mobility, focusing on how the labour market shapes economic opportunity across generations. The role involves designing and conducting empirical research to examine how advantage is maintained or disrupted in the workplace, analysing large-scale social and economic data, and developing strategies to promote fairer labour market outcomes.



This post is available from 1st December 2025 until 30th November 2027 in the first instance.


About you

You will have a PhD in Sociology and experience of complex, large-scale datasets, preferably linked employer-employee data.



You will also have excellent knowledge in sociological theory, in particular relating to categorical inequalities and social closure.
