This is an exciting opportunity to join the APT research project as Research Fellow, based at City St George's in the Department of Language and Communication Science, within the School of Health and Medical Sciences.
The project is called: the "Aphasia Partnership Training (APT): A programme of work to co-design and evaluate the effectiveness of training a person with aphasia and their communication partner to communicate better together" (NIHR Number: 208121 https://www.fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR208121). The Fellow role will support codesign of APT.
Responsibilities

The purpose of this Research Fellow role is to deliver workpackage 2 of the APT research project, working with the Joint Lead Investigators, and other WP Lead staff. This involves supporting the co-design, development, delivery, and refinement of the Aphasia Partnership Training (APT) intervention and associated speech and language therapist learning package as part of WP 2.
Specifically: coordinating and actively leading the co-design process and activities with diverse stakeholders (people with aphasia, communication partners, NHS therapists) - this is in collaboration with WP2 Lead and Co-Lead; contributing appropriately to the case study testing process (alongside WP1 Leads and staff); and assisting with data collection and analysis to iteratively refine the intervention and learning package for future trials.
Person Specification

The individual holds a strong academic background, with a degree in Speech and Language Therapy at first or upper second-class level (or equivalent) and must have a PhD in a relevant area. They will have in-depth knowledge and experience of communication partner training in aphasia, in clinical practice and/or research, and have a basic knowledge and understanding of intervention development and codesign. They will have quantitative and qualitative research experience (methods, analyses, and general research protocols, data management, and so on).
They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including with people with aphasia, and excellent organisation and time management skills. Knowledge of NHS context, and fluency in a language other than English, are desirable.
