The LMCB opened in 1993 as one of the first centres dedicated to molecular cell biology in the UK. The Division has a strong international reputation for research excellence, with staff and PhD students working together to understand the fundamental principles of cell biology relevant to human disease.

The LMCB has specialist in-house state-of-the-art science technology platforms, which include Light, Super Resolution and Electron Microscopy imaging, as well as a world leading High Content Biology Facility. In addition, the Division is a partner in the UCL-Zeiss Multiscale Imaging Centre shared with other Faculties in UCL.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Lloyd Lab. You will lead your own project while working in a collaborative and innovative team who are committed to excellence in research.




About the role


------------------


The Lloyd Lab, funded by CRUK, aims to understand the homeostasis and regeneration of the peripheral nervous system and the roles of these processes in cancer. To deliver this role effectively you will need a combination of excellent understanding of molecular, cell biology and imaging, including EM, with a special focus on peripheral nerve biology as well the ability to establish effective and collaborative relationships.




This is a fixed-term role for 9 months, with the possibility of extending based on funding. About you


-------------


The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative research team studying cis-regulatory mechanisms in neural tube development, from molecular mechanisms to the in vivo phenotypic consequences of perturbing this regulation.



The candidate should possess:


a PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline.

a good knowledge of neurobiology.

an extensive knowledge of research techniques and methodologies related to imaging, especially EM.

experience in data analysis (e.g. bioinformatics, image analysis)

a good research track with a record of high-quality publications, collaborations, and other contributions to the scientific community

experience of leading and managing a research project

ability to demonstrate a deep knowledge of own research background and to effectively communicate research achievements to a specialist and to a lay audience

willingness to contribute to a supportive and collaborative environment among team members and to advocate for and promote an endeavour of equality, diversity, and inclusion among colleagues and other LMCB members.
