The Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health is part of the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care and is headed by Professor Kate Walters & Professor Greta Rait. The Department's strategic aim is to deliver high quality teaching in community-based primary care and public health and to undertake a programme of internationally competitive multi-disciplinary research addressing the management and prevention of disease in individuals and populations in areas which are of priority to the health of the public.
The Centre for Ageing Population Studies (CAPS) within Primary Care and Population Health runs a number of leading qualitative and quantitative studies in ageing. The Centre for Electronic Health Records research And Methodology (CEHRAM) is a multidisciplinary research team working on a range of clinical and methodological topics using primary care data.
About the role
------------------
The main role of the post will be to lead the data management and analysis of primary care electronic health records to gain insight into trends in young-onset dementia prevalence and early symptoms and risk factors that may present pre-diagnosis.
The main duties and responsibilities are:
Data management and analysis of primary care data using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database
Oversight of the progress of the project, including protocol writing, organizing advisory group meetings, recording minutes, preparing conference abstracts and original articles for publication.

This is a fixed-term contract with external funding until 1 September 2027in the first instance.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent on award and confirmation of a PhD (or equivalent). If this is not the case, the initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary 39,148 - 41,833 per annum, inclusive of London allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.

About you

We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD Epidemiology/Data Science or related fields, and previous experience managing and analysing Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) data.
The candidate should have an interest in ageing, as well as experience in working within a research team. Some skills are expected such as 1) excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, 2) good analytic skills, including working experience with statistical software such as Stata and working with GitHub 3) ability to manage own workload through effective ordering of priorities and good organisational ability, and 4) ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
