Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
We are recruiting a Research Fellow to work on modelling the impact and cost-effectiveness of vaccines against respiratory pathogens in the UK. This will require building new models and extending existing models to capture the epidemiological and economic consequences of vaccines against Respiratory Synctial Virus (RSV) and influenza, and communicating findings to both academic and policy communities. Using data from large electronic healthcare records, the models will incorporate novel estimates of vaccine waning and account for variation vaccine effectiveness across different populations within the UK.
The post will be part of a large research programme on advancing evaluation of respiratory vaccine effectiveness using real time data. This project is a partnership led by the University of Bristol, and involving a multi-disciplinary team of researchers. It will build on existing work at LSHTM (led by Prof Rosalind Eggo and Dr Simon Procter), and include long-standing collaborative links with researchers at the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at Oxford University, and the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and relevant experience in a quantitative subject, related to epidemiological and/or economic modelling of infectious diseases. Further particulars are included in the.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and fixed-term until 31 May 2028. The post is funded by NIHR and available from 01 December 2025.
