About the role
------------------
The main purpose of this position is to perform experiments and analysis pertaining to understanding the role of organelle dynamics in cell function, health and disease. Main duties and responsibilities will be to apply molecular, cell biological, imaging, bioinformatic, and mass spectrometric analyses of the role of mitochondrial and other organelle/channel dynamics in brain cell health and disease. You will have a PhD in biochemistry or neurobiology. Key qualities will include an in depth understanding of cell biology and biochemistry/proteomics in addition to mitochondrial and ion channel biology as it pertains to brain health and neurological disease states. In addition to a PhD, key skills needed include experience and aptitude in the following approaches: molecular biology, proteomics and bioinformatic/computational analysis, cell biology including fixed and live cell imaging, immunolabeling, cell culture and confocal microscopy. Salary range is 43,981 - 52,586 - per annum inclusive of London weighting. This role is an fixed term end date with a funding end date of 31/07/2026 in the first instance. About you

You must have a PhD in a relevant subject area and proven knowledge of the following: molecular and cell biology, proteomics analysis, cell biology, microscopy in addition to deep knowledge of organelle and channel function in the brain. You will work as part of a team to study the mechanisms of ion channel and organelle dynamics in health and disease.
