This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding candidate, knowledgeable and experienced in social care research, to lead research working with routinely collected Adult Social Care data in local authorities. The post-holder will work on a project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), investigating inequalities in reablement services in Manchester, in partnership with the data and intelligence team at Manchester City Council. They will also provide specialist social care advice to other researchers as part of the NIHR Research Support Service within the University of Manchester.
The post holder will be responsible for leading on the analysis of routinely collected social care data, using sophisticated multivariable modelling techniques to determine whether reablement services are equally available across Manchester, barriers to reablement access, and factors influencing independent living post-reablement. To do this, they will be expected to liaise extensively with data analysts and service leads at Manchester City Council, other academic researchers, and public contributors and lay advisors.
The post-holder is expected to prepare statistical analysis plans, negotiate access to the local authority data, and analyse the data, collaborating with other researchers. They will present the progress and findings from the work in meetings and conferences and lead on preparing funding applications and high-quality scientific publications. They will use their social care expertise to advise other researchers who are preparing research bids to funders.
