A unique and exciting fixed term secondment opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a Research Funding, Finance and Contracts Officer.
This role will suit a self-motivated individual with strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to think laterally and work with minimal day to day supervision.
The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.
Main duties of the job
The key duties as follows
Act as the first point of contact in the Support and Delivery Centre for queries relating to research Funding, Finance and Contracts
Ensure the effective and efficient day to day running of the research Funding, Finance and Contracts service
Provide support, advice and guidance on Research Funding, Finance and Contracting to stakeholders, including NHS Research & Delivery offices, delivery staff and sponsors (commercial and non-commercial).
Support the Health and Care Research Wales infrastructure in the completion of UK-wide tools and templates in relation to R&D Funding, Finance and Contracts.
Support the Research Contracts Manager in the review of a wide range of contractual agreements (commercial and non-commercial).

  • Educated to degree level in a Health/ Social Care discipline or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Working knowledge of clinical research project management to include experience in the planning, co-ordination and conduct of clinical research studies
  • Knowledge and experience in the practical application of the AcoRD policy
  • A good understanding of costing and contracting research within the NHS (commercial and non-commercial)
  • A good understanding of Research Delivery Funding and its use within the NHS across Wales
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
