Contract: This is a full-time, hybrid (3 days a week) permanent position on Crick Terms and Conditions of Employment
Short summary
We are looking for an organised and pro-active Research Management Administration Officer to join our Research Management support team.
This role plays a vital role in sustaining the Crick's scientific culture by leading lectures, seminars, symposia, and other key events that showcase diverse scientific exchange.
The role also supports group leader recruitment, coordinating symposia, interviews, and candidate visits to integrate them into the wider programme of scientific dialogue.
We're looking for someone with strong event experience, a passion for science, and ideally some recruitment knowledge, who can build relationships, bring enthusiasm, and deliver world-class events.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific discourse

  • Lead the Crick's scientific discourse activities, including Crick Lectures, Insight Lectures, Annual Science Meeting, Annual Technology Meeting, Medicine at the Crick, Interest Groups and Crick Conferences.
  • Coordinate invitations, logistics, scheduling, itineraries, publicity, travel, and on-the-day delivery for high-profile speakers and events.
  • Coordinate and work closely with committees responsible for discourse (e.g. Lecture Committee, ASM Committee, Conferences Committee), working closely with the ARD for Scientific Discourse.
  • Maintain an integrated events calendar to ensure coherence and diversity of speakers and disciplines, and track expenditure against discourse budget codes (the postholder is not a budget holder).
Group leader recruitment
  • Support and coordinate group leader recruitment symposia, chalk talks, and interview events, ensuring professional delivery and strong faculty engagement.
  • Assist with candidate itineraries for seminar and chalk talk visits, reimbursements and visitor experience.
  • Support onboarding of successful candidates with a focus on integration into the Crick's scientific community and discourse culture.
About you
You will have:
  • Experience coordinating scientific events in a research environment. *
  • Experience independently delivering complex events and logistics to a high standard. *
  • Experience supporting recruitment or selection processes. *
  • Confidence in managing busy diaries, logistics, and speaker/candidate interactions. *
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365, database management, and able to learn web-based systems*
  • Project management skills
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking/databases (desirable)
