Research Manager, Digital Insight

United Kingdom, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job Introduction

We\'re excited to be recruiting for a permanent Research Manager in the Digital Insight team of the Audiences division - someone who will help inform and inspire the BBC\'s digital ambition. Within the BBC, the Audiences team is central to providing high quality insight, performance data and inspiration to help decision making at all levels and, as part of the Digital Insight team, the successful applicant will play a key role in shaping the BBC of the future.

The role offers a great opportunity for anyone who has a strong background in quantitative research and a deep-interest in UK media trends. While the role could be based in any of the BBC\'s main office Hubs (London, Salford, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast), it will likely require regular travel for meetings in Central London.

Main Responsibilities

This role sits within our Digital Insight team and is instrumental in helping the BBC to maximise the value it delivers through its digital services. You\'ll need to use a wide range of research, analysis and problem solving to inform our future Digital strategies, and support our day-to-day operations as an Insight function.

This will include:

  • Overseeing regular performance analysis for the BBCs digital portfolio: ensuring key stakeholders are well informed on our performance & audience opportunities
  • Leading the ongoing development of our audience metrics, targets and data sources - making sure that our Audience Scorecard & KPI\'s provide a useful decision making framework to guide the development of our digital portfolio
  • Leading ad-hoc insight projects in support of the BBC\'s digital strategy (e.g. guiding the development of our strategy, informing our overall investment plans)
A senior member of the insight team, the Research Manager will be expected to work independently with colleagues from across the Audiences division and beyond, applying excellent collaboration and communication skills to a range of projects and initiatives. The role reports into the Head of Research for the Digital Insight team, and will work closely with the Senior Research Executive and Senior Data Analyst in delivering our mission.

Are you the right candidate?

The role requires strong research and data skills, as well as an ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to help us translate insight into action, so we\'re ideally looking for someone who;
  • Has a proven track record of delivering high quality, evidence based research - with extensive experience of quantitative research and complex data sets
  • Has past experience running strategic research - using insight to inform business strategies or policies
  • Has strong communication skills (both verbal and written). Able to write structured, insight driven and persuasive documents
  • A good understanding of organisational dynamics and business process and policies.
  • Experience of working on a range of projects simultaneously, and prioritising accordingly
  • Is a creative problem solver - and able to evaluate research solutions and data sets to extract maximum value and insight
