The University of Brighton is leading the charge in low carbon technologies, and we are looking for a dynamic Research Officer to join our innovative team, and this is your chance to make a real impact on the future of energy.
As a successful candidate, you will collaborate and support in ground-breaking research on cryogenic ammonia and hydrogen fuels, as well as cutting-edge energy storage technologies. Your role will involve modelling complex processes of reacting and non-reacting flow using advanced platforms like Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and Ansys Chemkin-Pro. You'll explore propulsion technologies, including the recuperated split cycle engine, and delve into energy storage systems such as liquid air storage. We are seeking applicants with a strong background in combustion technologies and energy systems that utilize low and zero carbon fuels. Your knowledge of advanced power and propulsion systems, along with a solid foundation in thermophysical and thermochemical processes, will be crucial.
To be successful in this role you should have:
A degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, physics or a related field
Knowledge of sustainable advanced power and propulsion systems as well as energy storage technologies, including knowledge of liquid air storage systems
Knowledge of low and zero carbon fuels, advanced energy storage solutions and advanced power and propulsion systems with a solid foundation in the thermophysical and thermochemical processes involved in both reacting and non-reacting systems.
Experience in experimental and simulation-based research methodologies and data analysis is essential. studies, particularly in the context of dual-fuel systems and cryogenic applications.
Proficiency in IT tools for data analysis and the ability to conduct numerical modelling and post-processing of experimental studies.
