About the Role



We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our Science team on a fixed-term basis (12 months maternity cover) with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role post-Series A.

This is a hands-on operational role where you'll spend approximately 70% of your time executing online and in-person research studies. This involves recruiting participants, collecting data, managing logistics, and ensuring studies run smoothly. The remaining 30% involves study design, analysis, and scientific and stakeholder communication. Reporting to the Director of Science, you will take ownership of project management and research operations across several of our validation studies, with particular focus on our diabetes and automotive projects.

Note: The automotive project requires you to drive with study participants in London (low-traffic urban environments), making a valid UK driving licence and comfort with regular driving essential.

We need someone who finds satisfaction in the operational excellence of running studies well, from perfecting recruitment funnels to ensuring data collection, whilst understanding how this contributes to our broader scientific goals.

Key Responsibilities



Core Operational Duties (70% of role)



You will

lead

and

project manage

projects and

own the day-to-day running of multiple research studies

, managing participant recruitment across platforms (Prolific, NHS, community outreach), conducting both in-person and remote data collection sessions, and coordinating complex field logistics for example data collection for our diabetes and fatigue in cars studies. This means being comfortable with repetitive tasks like screening hundreds of participants, scheduling interview sessions weekly, and maintaining meticulous records. You'll also

manage relationships with external research sites and clinical partners

Research & Analysis (30% of role)



You will contribute to

study design

, particularly for user experience and participant-facing protocols, conduct targeted literature reviews, perform

data quality checks and analysis

, and support

ethics applications and regulatory submissions

. You'll also contribute to

academic papers, conference presentations, and prepare summary reports

for various stakeholders.

Candidate Profile



Essential Requirements - We're looking for someone with:



Master's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Public Health, or related field with strong methodological training in human behaviour studies Proven ability to independently manage and complete research projects, with substantial experience in both online and in-person data collection Exceptional organisational skills with genuine attention to detail: You are the person who catches the typo, notices the scheduling conflict, and remembers to follow up Self-starter mentality who can troubleshoot problems independently and take initiative without constant supervision Proficiency in qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis methods Enthusiasm for operational work: you understand that excellent research requires excellent operations Valid UK driver's licence and comfort driving in low-traffic areas in London Availability to start in January

Nice to Have



PhD in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Public Health, or related field experience in any of: working in a start-up, mixed-methods research, clinical populations (diabetes, mental health), ethics applications (NHS REC), health economics/outcomes research, data analysis tools (R, Python, SPSS), EEG data collection/analysis, clinical audit frameworks.
