Researcher Real2 Participatory Health Research (realist Review)

Oxford, United Kingdom

Job Description

Researcher - REAL2 Participatory Health Research (realist review)
Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, The Peter Medawar Building, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3SY

The Health Systems Collaborative (HSC) are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced Researcher to join the team at the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health.

Joining the team at the HSC means playing a part in the \'REAL2 realist review of participatory research\' https://mesh.tghn.org/programme-hubs/real2-participatory-research-realist-review/. This realist review aims to synthesise the evidence for \'what works, for who in what circumstances\' in Participatory Research (PR) to sharpen the conceptual and practical distinctions in the field and to produce guidance and planning for PR that can be applied by users depending on their context and needs.

You will execute a realist review in conjunction with the core project team. The review work includes: developing, reviewing and refining a programme theory and search strategies; accessing, selecting and reviewing research papers; managing databases; analysing and synthesising data; and refining theories. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, which will involve small scale project management and co-ordination of multiple project elements to meet deadlines. You will be responsible for advising other members of the group on methodologies or procedures, and assisting and contributing to the wider dissemination plan of the project. Other responsibilities will include engaging with colleagues in collaborating research groups and institutions; developing ideas for future research funding; and discuss future research ideas with colleagues.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a relevant subject or in realist review, and have previous experience of contributing to publications/presentations. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings. You will be willing to travel within the UK as needed for project meetings and occasionally overseas for short meetings. You will be willing to work flexibly in order to meet project\'s demands.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2025 and is funded by the Wellcome.

Only applications received before 12 midday on 12 September 2023 will be considered. Please quote 167167 on all correspondence.
