We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to oversee the maintenance and general upkeep of our premises. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors and staff alike. This position comes with accommodation (2 bedroom, first floor flat with a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and living room.)
This is a full-time (37 hours per week) position, as part of a rota pattern including weekends and evenings.
Radcliffe on Trent Parish Council is dedicated to serving our community by maintaining and enhancing local facilities and green spaces. We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Caretaker to join our team, to ensure our facilities are well-maintained and welcoming.
Duties
Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of indoor and outdoor areas, including gardens, walkways, and communal spaces.
Assist with minor repairs and coordinate with external contractors for specialised maintenance tasks.
Monitor security systems and ensure all entry points are secure after hours.
Manage waste disposal efficiently, ensuring recycling protocols are followed.
Support in setting up rooms or facilities for events or meetings as required.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any issues promptly.
Opening and closing Parish Council buildings prior to and after use. Managing customer requirements for bookings and being a primary point of contact.
To assist at any Parish Council events as required by management.
To inspect all assets and equipment for maintenance and security purposes.
To undertake and maintain accurate records of all maintenance, Fire Safety Checks, Legionella water testing, PAT testing and other Health and Safety checks as required.
Independent decision-making and problem-solving during duty officer shifts when management isn't immediately available.
Requirements
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable manner.
Strong communication skills to liaise with team members, contractors, and visitors professionally.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Organised with attention to detail to ensure all areas are maintained to high standards.
To manage and monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment, and place orders as required within an agreed budget
To demonstrate an attitude of delivering efficiencies
Experience of using IT to support efficiencies
General maintenance of grounds, including light pruning and weeding.
General light maintenance tasks as directed by management.
Basic knowledge of Health & Safety regulations relevant to public buildings (e.g., COSHH).
Previous experience in facilities management or caretaking is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
