The GMCA has an exciting opportunity for aResident Engagement Officer (Retrofit)to join its award-winning Retrofit Team in the Environment Directorate.
The role will support a team delivering over 100m of housing retrofit measures to help meet the targets in the Greater Manchester 5-year Environment Plan and Retrofit Action Plan which are aiming to make Greater Manchester carbon neutral by 2038.
A key focus of the role will be to support the delivery of GMCA's devolved Warm Homes: Local Grant by undertaking engagement activity with residents and landlords. The post holder will be required to plan and host engagement sessions in public settings as well as engage and support residents on a one to one basis within their homes in allocated districts of Greater Manchester.
The energy efficiency improvements and low carbon heating systems installed through these schemes will result in homes that are cheaper to heat, more comfortable to live in, and have less impact on the environment.
About you:
The GMCA is seeking an individual with experience of face to face customer engagement, conveying technical information in simple to understand language, and persuading residents on retrofitting their homes. The post holder will need to be a self-starter, generating their own workload including the creation of marketing material and strategies.
A commitment to partnership working is essential, as you will work closely with government departments, local authorities, registered providers of social housing, contractors, and a wide range of local partners. Most importantly, we are looking for an individual with a passion for tackling climate change and fuel poverty, as this retrofit-focussed role is an excellent opportunity to have a direct impact on these issues.
The role requires significant knowledge of effective methods for engaging residents, including those who require additional assistance, and of housing retrofit. Therefore, the post is ideal for a PAS2035 accredited Retrofit Advisor. However, candidates with transferable skills may be considered for formal training.
