Inteq is a supplier of integrated warehouse automation solutions. It consists of three divisions in the UK, Systems, Integration and Controls, each providing the constituent technologies within our solutions, as well as a division in The Netherlands, servicing the European market.

As well as the development and supply of automation technology, Inteq provides solutions design, project management, health & safety (including CDM), aftersales maintenance and support services.

Inteq has experienced exciting growth over recent years and the acquisition represents a key milestone in Wincanton's strategic roadmap to create sustainable supply chain value through technology and automation.

Purpose of the role:



The Resident Site Engineer will provide on-site technical support, maintenance, and repair of equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of systems at the customer's site. Acting as a technical expert and primary point of contact, this role requires a proactive approach to resolving issues, optimizing performance, and maintaining excellent customer relationships.


Responsibilities:



Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance

on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.

Serve as the primary technical contact

at the customer site, providing real-time support, coordinating with contractors, and managing technical queries.

Maintain compliance and safety standards

, ensuring all work aligns with manufacturer guidelines, site regulations, and health & safety protocols.

Build strong customer relationships

by delivering training, handling concerns professionally and providing regular updates on maintenance activities and equipment status.

Manage documentation and inventory

, including service reports, performance logs, and spare parts tracking to support efficient operations.

Requirements:



Proven experience in a similar engineering role, ideally within automation, manufacturing, or distribution, with strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automated systems. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively, with hands-on experience working directly with customers on-site. Formal engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, or time-served apprenticeship) and familiarity with conveyor systems, cranes, shuttles, and PLCs/control systems. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with solid organizational abilities for managing schedules and documentation. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance management software. Willingness to work flexible hours (e.g., 8am-4pm), remain on-call for urgent issues, and work safely in varied environments while upholding high standards of safety and quality.
