Join us as a Residential Activities and Child Care Officer (RACCO) to support the wellbeing, development, and care of children with moderate learning difficulties within our residential provision.

As a RACCO, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment where students can thrive. You? assist in the delivery of a supportive residential curriculum designed to promote self-respect, confidence, independence, and social integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Support the care and wellbeing of residential students, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met. Implement academy policies and guidance, ensuring alignment with OFSTED inspection standards. Maintain high standards of health and safety and report any issues in line with the Academy Health and Safety Policy. Facilitate studentsacquisition of life skills, such as personal hygiene, social behaviour, and independence. Provide support during meals and other communal activities. Plan, organise, and deliver engaging activities that enhance the residential experience and foster integration into the community. Perform sleeping-in duties on a rota basis. Contribute to annual reviews and relevant meetings regarding individual studentsprogress. Prepare termly reports for designated key students.

We operate various schools and programmes designed to help children and young adults with SEND, offering specialised teaching, outreach services, and alternative provision to meet diverse educational needs.

We work closely with schools and communities across the eastern region of England, providing training, consultancy, and tailored support for both students and staff. Our services include trauma-informed approaches, safeguarding expertise, curriculum adaptation, and behaviour support.

Potential relocation to Bury St Edmunds from January 2026*

This will be paid as 750 at the end of first month of employment and 750 after six months completed service. The entire sum will be repayable if you leave within the first two years of service. This only applies to direct applicants and not to those staff who come through an agency. Internal college policy applies.
