We are looking to recruit a number of residential child care practitioners on Casual contracts to cover shifts in times of holiday, training and sickness absence and as an opportunity to gain experience in this area of service to support your future career.



These posts are based at Rushey Meadows, Bannerdale Road, supporting a motivated and talented team working with children and young people aged 7 to 18 with learning disabilities and difficulties, in a Children's Home.



You will need to be motivated, passionate, ambitious and driven to provide support in achieving the best possible outcomes for children in care. We are looking for people with the right values and attitude who are good communicators and who will be able to support children and young people to fulfil their potential. You should have good customer service skills, which include displaying sensitivity and tolerance with people and be able to listen actively and have good communication skills - written and verbal.



These roles include developing young people's lives and giving them all the opportunities they need and therefore we are looking for people who are passionate about making a difference to children and young people's lives. You will work as part of a team to increase life skills through a range of activities. You will be responsible for key working with young people and be involved in communicating their aspirations and goals in a multi-agency approach.



The role will involve supporting the children and young people with a combined team approach to their care and development. You will input into their care planning, to ensure a consistent and coherent service to the home. It will involve elements of personal care. It will support the home in providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children and young people in our care. Applicants for this role should be physically fit and capable of actively engaging with children in various physical activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Our safeguarding recruitment checks will include an enhanced barred DBS check and details of current and all previous work history. You will need to attend a 5 day induction process prior to being offered any shifts.

The home operates on a flexible 24-hour rota, which includes weekends, unsociable hours, sleeping in duties and bank holidays (including Christmas and New year), which are paid at enhanced rates of pay. As a casual worker you will be covering shifts as and when required and therefore you will need to be flexible and willing to work at short notice.
