Newport City Council's Residential Services are currently recruiting Residential Childcare Workers to join our dedicated teams across several children's homes. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of needs, including:

Learning and physical disabilities Social, emotional, and behavioural challenges Histories of trauma and adverse childhood experiences

We are committed to creating a warm, stable, and family-like environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported. Our staff are carefully selected and trained in trauma-informed practice and attachment-focused care to ensure the highest quality of support.



What We're Looking For:



We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds. While experience working with children is desirable, it is not essential. More important are the right values, motivation, and commitment to making a difference.


What We Offer:



A comprehensive induction and training programme Support to achieve a Level 3 qualification in Working with Children and Young People (if not already held) Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed and attachment-focused care A supportive team environment and opportunities for career progression

Working Pattern:

15-hour shifts (8am-11pm) 1 day on / 2 days off Sleep-in duties as required Flexibility to work across different homes within the service

If successful, you will be assigned a base home but may be required to work across other homes to meet the needs of the children and young people we support. We value flexibility, teamwork, and a child-centred approach.
